Carrie Bernans seriously injured in 'hit-and-run' accident months after giving birth

Movie star and stunt woman Carrie Bernans has been critically injured in an alleged hit-and-run accident in New York, her family have said.
The Marvel star, known for her work in Black Panther and two final Avenger movies, is in hospital receiving treatment. According to reports, several people were injured, including Carrie Bernans, after a vehicle drove into a crowd while attempting to escape a hit-and-run accident. Her mother has taken over the actress’ Instagram to update followers on her condition.
Carrie Bernans ‘in so much pain’ after ‘hit-and-run accident’
Her mom took to social media to tell fans and followers what happened.
She called the ordeal a “traumatic incident”, which is believed to have happened on New Year’s Eve. Her mother Patricia also explained the film star is in “so much pain and can’t answer calls at this time”, but revealed she appreciated messages.
She wrote: “Please keep Carrie in your thoughts and prayers. She’s in so much pain but healing.”
Patricia claimed the man in the vehicle was attempting to escape a hit-and-run before crashing into a food stand, where several people were nearby. Carrie Bernans was walking with a friend when the accident took place, and was ‘knocked unconscious’ by the collision.
Her mother then said the star was ‘pinned’ under the food stand in the terrifying events that unfolded.
She continued: “She has a few broken bones, fractures, & chipped teeth but thanking God that she’s alive. Nine people were injured in his attempted escape from the hit & run, including 3 police officers. Police caught him shortly after and arrested him. Amidst the chaos of the New Year’s incident, she’s holding onto an immense sense of gratitude for life itself.”
Despite the injuries, Patricia said the stunt woman is still in good spirits.
Carrie’s baby boy was not there
Luckily, Patricia added Carrie’s son wasn’t there at the time of the crash.
She told followers: “He was safe in a warm hotel room with family. And thank you to all who reached out.”
The grandmother then sent gratitude to emergency responders who rushed to the scene. She wrote: “Thank you to all the first responders, police, strangers, my friend Katherine, family & friends who’s helped her.”
The Hollywood star gave birth to a baby boy last year, believed to be around 8 months old.
The star often takes cute videos and photos with her bundle of joy for fans on social media.
Carrie played a member of The Dora Milaje in Black Panther, the elite group of female warriors who serve Wakanda, as well as being the Black Panther’s personal bodyguards. She also appeared in the same role in Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War movies. She also was on set for the new musical adaptation of The Color Purple, alongside Taraji Henson, Halle Bailey and Ciara.
